Praying for Wisdom - James 1:5-8
James 1:5–8 (ESV)
5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. 6 But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind. 7 For that person must not suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; 8 he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.

Lacking Wisdom
- We need wisdom because we struggle to find joy in the midst of our trials. (James 1:2-4)
- Wisdom is putting knowledge into practice.
- Wisdom is practical application as we navigate life.
- Wisdom is the God-given understanding that enables us to live a faithful and joyful life.
- Wisdom is seeing God in all of our situations. Seeing Him and trusting in Him.
Ask of God who Gives Generously
- Who else should we turn to?
- Ask throughout our life. Not just once. We should seek wisdom from God often.
- He is all wise, all loving, all powerful.
- Gives without approach. That is who God is and what He does.
- Truth saves by the Gospel. Truth/Wisdom sustains us.
Ask in Faith
- In dependence on Him.
- Trusting in His perfect will
- Confident that He hears and will respond.
Those that doubt
- Receive nothing, because they do not truly believe.
- Unstable in their ways. Not on solid ground. Up and down.
- Double-minded. Some head knowledge, but no heart knowledge. A hypocrite
