Count it all Joy - James 1:2-4

James 1:2–4
[2] Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, [3] for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. [4] And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing. (ESV)

A Proper Response to Trials

A Trial

• The testing of our faith.
• Putting our faith to the test.
• External circumstance outside our control
• Inner temptation to sin. Our flesh.
• BOTH TEST OUR FAITH

Joy

• An inner confidence that everything is OK
• Happiness is based on external circumstances. (I am HAPPY when things go my way.)
• Joy is based on internal truths... regardless of the circumstances. (I have joy in the Lord because of who He is.)

We have Joy because

• When we face trials properly we will grow in our faith and trust in the Lord.
• STEADFASTNESS. We become mature, complete. NOT PERFECT OR WITHOUT TRIALS, but a maturity and understanding as we endure and grow stronger in the midst of temptations and trials.
• LACKING IN NOTHING. Because we are a Child of the King.
  • We have all we need because of our salvation.
  • We have all we need because of  our sanctification. (Our daily growing)
  • We have all we need because JESUS IS ENOUGH!

HOW IS YOUR JOY IN THE MIDST OF TRIALS?

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO DO DIFFERENTLY TO FIND JOY IN THE PLACE YOU ARE IN LIFE?

JOY IS ONLY FOUND AS WE LOVE AND LIVE FOR JESUS.
